The beginning of the month seems a good time to start Four Weeks of Thanks. Between now and Thanksgiving, I’m going to talk about four characteristics of God for which I am especially thankful.

The first one is grace :

The God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10, ESV

Did you get that? He is the God of Grace. And He has called us–you and me–to share with Christ in His glory for eternity.

Not only that, but while we are still here in this life, He Himself will restore and strengthen us. He doesn’t send a substitute or an imitation when we are broken or weak. It is God Himself who comes to us in our time of need.

Without God’s grace, we would have no hope. Because of His grace, we can receive His riches–the honor and joy that comes from being the daughters and sons of the King. ‬[Tweet “God gives us #grace & calls us to share in His glory for eternity. ‪#‎CharacterofGod‬ #4WeeksOfThanks”]

Grace is the reason that salvation is free. Jesus suffered and died to save us from the penalty of our sins. That’s grace.

Someone came up with this acronym for the word:

Grace is a gift from God. It’s available to everyone who is willing to accept it. And it results in changed lives:

That grace can save every person. It teaches us not to live against God and not to do the evil things the world wants to do. That grace teaches us to live in the present age in a wise and right way—a way that shows that we serve God (Titus 2:11-12, ICB).

So, grace is part of God’s nature. It saves us, it changes us, and we get to share in God’s glory. Doesn’t that make grace a gift to really be thankful for?
